Kindred Kids strives to provide a primarily play based childcare environment for each of the children while in care. I believe that children learn best when they have access to open ended toys, everyday objects and environments to learn and explore using their own imaginations. There will be periods in the day where children are also exposed to a variety of fun and educational adult directed activities including but not limited to crafts, numbers and letters, science and music. I will introduce these opportunities with the help of themes that will run for two weeks at a time. These topics are specifically chosen to support the children’s learning and development while still within their area of interest and comprehension. I will also incorporate holidays, special events and occasions into our day-to-day activities as they occur. Additionally the children participate in circle time daily where we sing songs, read stories and discuss the day.

The learning calendar keeps parents up-to-date on the specific topics being covered during the week. Topics appear on the calendar in the language that they are delivered. This helps to encourage further discussion and exploration at home about topics learned during that specific week. This is a sample of the schedule from our 2017 year.
