Perhaps one of the hardest decisions a parent has to make early on is whether or not they plan to return to work and enrol their child in daycare. As their parent it is your role to advocate for your child, keeping in mind their best interest as well as considering such factors as cost, location, structure, values, caregivers, etc. For these reasons finding a daycare can be challenging. Not to mention the dreaded “parental guilt” that pretty well accompanies any difficult decision we make pertaining to our children in their lifetimes.

The good news is research indicates that socializing our children in the toddler years can lead to a variety of developmental benefits. Therefore, the daycare group setting provides children with an optimal learning environment. In this setting they obtain valuable life skills and tools such as sharing, group work and participation, conflict resolution, language development, friendship and respect for others. Additionally the act of socializing has been shown to ease separation anxiety at an early age, developing independent children and preparing them early on for the routines that will come within the school environment. All of these benefits obtained in the daycare setting are inevitably building positive traits that lead to future life successes.

Choosing the right childcare provider is an important decision. At Kindred Kids I am committed to providing a high quality child care experience for every child in care. I believe children thrive when they are made to feel safe, secure, loved and encouraged. With that in mind I focus on providing a comfortable and fun, primarily play-based learning environment.
